Redundant Flare Tower Decommissioning 2023
Project Overview
In 2023, Divetech Marine Engineering Services (DMES) executed the safe removal and disposal of two redundant offshore flare towers located off the coast of DAS Island, UAE. This high-risk offshore operation required meticulous planning, a multi-disciplinary team, and integrated marine and diving capabilities to ensure a controlled and incident-free execution.
Scope of Work
- Mobilization of barge and marine spread from Abu Dhabi Freeport to the offshore location
- Eight-point mooring operation using pre-positioned anchor points
- Subsea visual inspection of jacket and anchor positions by IMCA-certified divers
- Rigging and lifting of flare sections via approved lifting plans
- Cold cutting and controlled section removal
- Plugging and flange closure of remaining piping systems
- Post work final survey and demobilization of marine assets

Rehabilitation of Linear Store - Ruwais
Project Overview
Divetech Marine Engineering Services successfully executed the rehabilitation of the Linear Store and associated facilities in Ruwais under an asset-integrity improvement program. The 460 m-long Linear Store, along with its Circular Store, Truck Unloading Shelter, and Fire Water Pump House, required extensive repair and coating due to corrosion and environmental exposure from Sulphur-handling operations. The works aimed to restore structural integrity, enhance corrosion protection, and improve safety while maintaining full plant operations.
Scope of Work
- Surface preparation and multi-coat timber protection system using Jotun Wood-shield products.
- Replacement of damaged roof sheets (GI & translucent) across multiple facilities.
- Replacement of rainwater gutters and downcomers improving drainage and durability.
- Repair and reinstallation of aluminum COLT ventilators.
- Installation of bird-protection netting and guards.
- Installation of lacquer-coated aluminum capping over glulam timber members.
